Al-Hiraak Briefing Paper

Al-Hiraak is a southern political movement seeking greater autonomy for South Yemen. Al-Hiraak began in 2007 as a protest organization to demand more rights and equality for the South from the central government. When their activities did not show any positive results, however, al-Hiraak evolved into a movement in which many members strongly favor southern secession.
