General People’s Congress Delegation
The GPC delegation consists of current leaders of the ruling GPC, including several members of the transitional government’s cabinet, as well as security and government officials that Saleh appointed to positions of power during his thirtythree years in power. Although Saleh is not present at the negotiations, he remains the head of the GPC and a number of his staunch supporters continue to serve in leadership positions within the government and security sector. The delegation also includes several members of Saleh’s family, including Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh, Saleh’s son, and Yahiya Mohammed Abdullah Saleh, one of Saleh’s nephews, both of whom have retained high-level positions in the security forces throughout the transition. Saleh’s son remains Commander of the Republican Guard, while Saleh’s nephew remains the Chief of Staff of the Central Security Forces.
