Negotiating a Resolution to the Indus River Basin Dispute
The purpose of this negotiation simulation is to identify key issues and potential solutions to points of impasse likely to arise during negotiations between India and Pakistan on the Indus River Basin.
Briefing Packets
To provide the necessary information to conduct the simulation, this briefing packet identifies the main parties to the debate and their relevant interests and provides a brief overview of the issues to be debated. The participants have been divided into five delegations: the Government of Turkey, the Government of Syria, the Government of Iraq, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq, and the international community (comprised of representatives from the United States, the European Union, and the League of Arab States). The simulation will proceed along a structured agenda provided in Annex I.
